The LeBron 9, while sharing some general aesthetics with the LeBron 8, is something of a departure from past shoes in the LeBron line, most notably thanks to the emphasis on carbon fiber covering most of the rear of the shoe. In terms of technology, the 9 looks impressive so far, including a Max Air unit covering the back half of the midsole and a carbon fiber mid-foot shank on the instep. Hit the jump to check out plenty of photos of the shoe, and stick with NikeBlog for all things LeBron 9. This is our first GOOD look at the shoes and I think the response has to be … underwhelming. Certainly not a bad shoe, but this white/red model features the standard crisscrossing flywire that we typically see—as opposed to the pinstripe style flywire we saw yesterday—and that we originally saw on the first glimpses at the Air Max LeBron VII, and it just makes the already familiar silhouette look A LOT like the Nike Hyperize. Although it’s important to keep in mind that the shoe could still change before release, and the white/red model we saw yesterday looks very different thanks to that woven side. All in all the Nike Air Max LeBron VII is a pretty decent shoe and I’m sure it will do quite well, but you don’t expect Nike to make their most popular signature line so similar to what will surely be their most popular standard basektball shoe next year. I guess all in all it’s about performance on the court and I’m sure this will excel, it just probably won’t have the same off-the-court presence of past shoes.
