Next year can’t come soon enough, with some absolute footwear monsters set to hit shelves in the next few months, let alone the next year. Today check out the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Cool Grey,’ release date thus far unannounced but expected in the first couple months of 2012. The shoe sports a dark look, even distinct from some past Cool Greys, with darker grey on the textile wings and Hyperfuse toe and metallic silver on the stitched overlays. White on the Swoosh and outsole finish off the look and provide a bit of contrast. Hit the jump for plenty of looks and stick with NB for details as they emerge. In 2007, designer James Arizumi created the Nike SB What the Dunk, a visually-arresting colorway that mashed-up several iconic Dunks into one pair of shoes. The result was polarizing, the shoe becoming a lightning rod for attention, good and bad. (Although, looking back, it is now almost unanimously beloved.) Nearly a decade later, the concept has spawned an annually-appearing phenomenon, as Nike Basketball regularly gives the mash-up treatment to current editions of their Big 3 signature franchises. See where this is going?Introducing the Nike What the LeBron 11, a shoe that combines not just several different colorways, but several different LeBron signature models from the first eleven years of his career. There’s the LeBron VII’s tongue-detailing and the map of Akron from the LeBron V, among others. All in all, eight different design elements from past LeBrons are incorporated into the What the LeBron 11, to go along with 20 different graphics and colors from previous colorways, resulting in the perfect storm of eye-popping style and wearable storytelling.Better yet, it’s coming soon. The Nike What the LeBron 11 release date is set for May 31, a week before the What the KD 6 hits retailers. Check out plenty of photos below, including alternating shots of the asymmetrical left and right shoes.
Oregon netted a seven-seed in the NCAA Tourney, and a match-up with BYU. To celebrate the beginning of the second season, some of the Ducks, including dynamic scorer Joseph Young, will lace up their new Nike LeBron 11 Oregon Ducks PE in the coming days.Proving a perfect match for the Ducks brighter colors — as opposed to their darker “thunder green” and “lightning yellow”; the Ducks have a lot of uniforms — the shoe sets white Hyperposite overlays against a Kelly green Hyperfuse-constructed upper. Bright yellow then contrasts on the outsole, swoosh, Flywire and inner-lining, ensuring the Ducks colors are loudly represented.Look for Young & company to lace up the new Oregon LeBron 11 Thursday against BYU, and don’t expect a public launch to come, unfortunately. (Though this is effectively just a LeBron 11 iD; you can get pretty close on NIKEiD.com.)
